Joshua vs. Dubois: Daniel Dubois stops Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium

Daniel Dubois sensationally defeated fellow Briton Anthony Joshua in five rounds and catapulted himself into the world of sports stardom in front of 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The 27-year-old knocked Joshua down several times, retained the IBF heavyweight title and ruined the career of his domestic rival.

Londoner Dubois stopped the 34-year-old Joshua with an incredible right counter hook, securing the biggest win of his 24-fight career.

“Don’t you feel entertained?” said Dubois after the fight amid great cheers at Wembley.

“I am a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to reach the top of this sport and reach my potential.”

Joshua’s attempt to become a three-time champion and return to the top of the division ended in a most dramatic and unexpected way.

AJ, who won his first world title more than eight years ago, suffered his fourth loss in his 32nd fight.

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist worked his way back to mandatory challenger status, but the dominant nature of Dubois’ victory left big question marks over Joshua’s next move.

An ecstatic Dubois, meanwhile, enjoyed the crowning moment that had eluded him since being declared world champion when Oleksandr Usyk relinquished the belt.
