SEATTLE – Juan Soto’s game-changing home run came with a dash of reality.

As he completed his home run tour of all 30 active ballparks during the Yankees’ victory over the Mariners on Tuesday night, Soto served as a reminder of what’s to come in the offseason.

“So many different stages, so many different dimensions,” Soto said. “I just want to check them all off.”

“What a great way to go into free agency, with home runs in all 30 ballparks, I’m looking at my list.”

The Yankees hope that Soto will have a lot more to offer in the jersey in the future, even if they are only guaranteed the remaining 11 games of the regular season and its duration in October.

After that, Soto is expected to hit the open market, where his price is expected to rise to over $500 million – although Hal Steinbrenner said in May that he wanted to explore a contract extension with the superstar, which always seemed unlikely.

The 25-year-old’s two-run shot against Bryan Woo was the 40th of his season (extending his career high) and the 200th of his career.

And yet it was the third achievement – hitting a home run in all 30 ballparks – that Soto said was the most meaningful accomplishment for him.

The fact that he can hit anywhere will certainly be one of the many selling points for Soto and his agent Scott Boras this season.

“That’s one of the goals I’ve really set for myself in my career,” said Soto, who set a goal in spring training to hit a home run in all 30 parks (he had five left before this season). “When I got to the American League this year, I thought, ‘I have a really good chance of doing it.’ And then when I did it, I thought, ‘Oh, I finally hit the last one.'”

The Yankees seem to have made a strong impression on Soto, especially since he has the luxury of batting ahead of Aaron Judge, but in the end, money will speak the loudest.

Meanwhile, Soto made more history with Judge on Tuesday. The duo – Judge hit 53 home runs – became only the third pair of Yankees teammates to hit 40 home runs in the same season, joining Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle (1961) and Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (1927, 1930, 1931).

“Ever since I came here in spring training, my goal has been to get my name in the history books and be a part of this,” Soto said. “Now to be up there and be with these guys is a great experience. It feels really cool.”

Soto reached 200 career home runs in his 926th career game and his 3,247th career at-bat.

Others have reached that milestone in fewer games and at-bats, but Soto (25 years, 328 days) was closer to being the youngest player ever to do so – a feat held by Mel Ott, who hit his 200th bat at 25 years, 144 days.

“It’s unbelievable,” Judge said. “Forty home runs, hit the 200th, hit every ballpark. That’s hard to do when I feel like he just got into this game. But what a career he’s having, what a year he’s having. I’m definitely looking forward to more of that the rest of the year and beyond.”

Whether Judge will have a front-row seat in the “beyond” remains to be seen, but for now, the Yankees are simply trying to enjoy Soto’s presence and take advantage of it as they chase a division title and more.

“You always think, ‘Man, this guy is only 25. Maybe he’s just scratching the surface of who he is,'” manager Aaron Boone said. “In many ways, he hasn’t even reached his peak yet. Maybe he’s just reaching it. I think we would all acknowledge that we’re watching a really special hitter.”
