CHICAGO – New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 300th home run, reaching the milestone faster than any other player, when he hit his 300th home run in a 10-2 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.

Judge scored in his 955th game and 3,431st at-bat with a three-run drive in the eighth inning. The six-time All-Star and 2022 American League MVP hit a 3-0 up-and-in sinker from Chad Kuhl into the White Sox bullpen in left for his 43rd home run, leading the major leagues.

Ralph Kiner hit 300 home runs in his 1,087th game and Babe Ruth in his 3,831st at-bat.

“I was hoping it would be a win,” Judge said as teammates DJ LeMahieu and Austin Wells doused him with a tub of water.

Chicago had intentionally given Juan Soto a walk to bring in Judge, who had not hit a home run on a 3-0 pitch since 2021.

“I was mad about the intentional walk, so that kind of spurred me on,” Judge said. “Usually when it’s 3-0, I take a pitch, see a pitch and pass it to the next guy. But in this situation, you have to hold on when they don’t want to pitch to you.”

ASTROS 2, RAYS 1 (10) Mauricio Dubon scored the decisive point with a single in the 10th inning, closer Josh Hader managed two scoreless innings and AL West leader Houston won its eighth consecutive victory and thus its season record with the victory over Tampa Bay.

RANGERS 9, RED SOX 7 (10) Wyatt Langford hit a three-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning to tie the game and Jonah Heim hit a two-run home run in the 10th to lead Texas to a victory over Boston and avoid a three-game sweep. Heim’s home run came on the first pitch from Boston reliever Zach Kelly (4-2), who scored automatic runner Ezequiel Duran.

TIGERS 3, MARINERS 2 (10) Akil Baddoo’s pinch-hit double in the 10th inning gave Detroit a comeback win over Seattle. Detroit trailed 2-0 with two outs in the eighth inning, but Matt Vierling hit a double off Yimi Garcia and Kerry Carpenter hit his third home run in two games to tie the score. Carpenter had one strikeout in his first three at-bats.

BUNDESLIGA

BREWERS 5, DODGERS 4 Devin Williams retired Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in order in the ninth inning to secure Milwaukee’s victory over Los Angeles, which ended the Dodgers’ five-game winning streak.

DIAMONDBACKS 11, ROCKIES 4 Eugenio Suarez hit a grand slam and finished with five RBIs, Joc Pederson scored two early runs and Arizona won its sixth straight game with the victory over Colorado. Arizona swept the three-game series and has won 18 of 21 games, heading into the postseason with its longest winning streak since last August.

PADRES 8, PIRATES 2 Martin Perez beat his old team in his first win since San Diego signed him at the trade deadline, and the Padres beat Pittsburgh for their 19th win in 22 games. Jake Cronenworth and David Peralta hit home runs for the Padres, who won six games against the Pirates this season. San Diego (69-53) improved to a season-high 16 games over .500, swept the three-game series and won eight straight series for the first time since 2007.

PHILLIES 9, MARLINS 5 Kyle Schwarber quieted the boos with his seventh career grand slam, pulling Philadelphia out of its midsummer malaise and leading it to a victory over Miami. Trying to claw their way out of their slump, the Phillies got a much-needed win one night after suffering a four-hit, scoreless loss to one of baseball’s worst teams. Once the winningest team in baseball, the Phillies needed Schwarber’s slam to snap a four-game losing streak, and they won for just the eighth time in 24 games since the All-Star break.

REDS 9, CARDINALS 2 Jonathan India hit two home runs and drove in four runs, TJ Friedl hit two home runs on his 29th birthday and Cincinnati completed a three-game sweep of St. Louis. Tyler Stephenson also hit a home run to help the Reds win a three-game series for the first time since July 2-4 at the New York Yankees.

METS 9, ATHLETICS 1 Pete Alonso had four hits, including a fourth-inning home run and three RBIs, to lead the New York Mets to a victory over Oakland and end a four-game losing streak.
