On social media, shoppers complained about understaffed stores and long queues at self-checkout lanes.

“@WalmartInc just left Walmart in Hendersonville, North Carolina and left my cart with about $130 worth of merchandise and dog treats,” wrote one frustrated customer on X.

“Why does Walmart build 18 or 19 cash registers and no one to operate them?

Retailers across the United States are increasingly relying on self-checkout lanes.

They are intended to speed up customer payments, but many are not happy with this decision.

Some shoppers argue that self-checkout lanes make the process more complicated.

Although not all Walmart stores in the US have switched to self-checkout, customers are not impressed by these changes.

“This is why I don’t go to Walmart anymore, especially for grocery shopping,” said one shopper.

“I used to shop at Walmart with all four kids. The self-checkout lines became too much for me,” wrote another.

Apparently, many customers would like to see more checkouts staffed at Walmart stores.

“Walmart is total garbage… no cash register and 30 people in line at the self checkout… this store is worthless…” wrote one angry shopper on Facebook.

“What kind of customer service is this,” said another.

The US newspaper “The Sun” has asked the retailer for a statement.

GROWING DISSATISFACTION

And this is just one of the many complaints customers have about Walmart.

The retailer’s numerous anti-theft measures are also starting to get on people’s nerves.

This includes checking receipts and storing items in locked cabinets.

“Walmart needs to stop harassing honest people,” one shopper wrote on Facebook.

What is Walmart Scan and Go?

Walmart’s Scan and Go is designed to save shoppers time

Walmart’s Scan and Go system is designed to allow customers to scan items as they shop, pay, and exit the checkout line without having to wait in long checkout lines.

The retailer describes setting up the new system as being done in just a few simple steps:

  • Customers must first download the Walmart app to their phone and enable location access.
  • On the Store Mode landing page, shoppers must click the “Scan to Go” option.
  • Customers can scan any item and add it to their shopping cart while shopping.
  • At the end, you will be asked to view the shopping cart to make sure the quantity in the app matches the quantity in your cart.
  • Shoppers press “Checkout” and go to a self-checkout kiosk.
  • You will be asked to scan the QR code provided at checkout and confirm your payment method.
  • Once the transaction is complete, customers can leave the store without worry.

“I showed her the receipt and she still wanted me to speak to customer service to double check my items.”

Buyers complained that these checks were a waste of time and relatively pointless.

“You just take your receipt and mark it with a felt-tip pen,” said another shopper.

“They don’t check your bags to make sure they match your purchases. So it’s absolutely no protection against shoplifting, nor is it a solution to it.”
