Peacock has given a series order to The suburbsa contemporary series adaptation of the 1989 Universal Pictures horror comedy of the same name. Celeste Hughey (Palm Royale, dead for me) is the writer and executive producer of the mystery comedy series starring Keke Palmer (Nope, password), also an executive producer on the project for UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Located in today’s suburbs, The suburbs follows a young couple – Palmer plays the woman – who return to the man’s childhood home. Their world is turned upside down when new neighbors move in next door and reveal old secrets of the cul-de-sac. Plus, new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.
