Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS is getting closer to its premiere in Texas

Kim Kardashian’s shapewear and clothing brand is about to open its first permanent store in Central Texas.

In February, MySA first reported that SKIMS was planning to build a new permanent store at Austin’s Domain Northside following the success of the company’s temporary pop-up store at the outdoor mall. A recent video from a social media vlogger shows that the aesthetically pleasing all-white storefront, featuring the brand’s infamous bubble letters, is now complete, but the interior of the store still appears to be empty.

TikTok user @sarahphan_ planned to go to the “grand opening” of the new SKIMS store in Austin over the weekend, but was surprised to find that it wasn’t open yet. In Phan’s video, the store had no merchandise on the shelves as she explained why her visit was a “flop.”

“Come with me to the opening of the SKIMS store in Austin, Texas, or so I thought,” she said in the video, panning the camera to the outside of the store. “It turns out they’re still waiting on another permit, but they hope to open by the end of next week.”

Although Phan was unable to shop at SKIMS as she had originally hoped, she was instead able to attend a Sol de Janeiro pop-up shop, where she received several free gifts from the Brazilian personal care brand. MySA contacted Domain Northside to find out the exact date of SKIMS’s upcoming opening.

Known for its nude underwear and loungewear, SKIMS was co-founded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede in 2019. In November, SKIMS quietly opened its first pop-up “workshop” store, which quickly went viral online, with long lines of people wanting to shop the previously online-only brand.

Store visitors and employees in Austin said there were rumors that the store would only stay open for six months, as many believed that if the store did well as a pop-up, it would stay open. SKIMS closed its previous pop-up store at 11700 Domain Blvd., Suite 120 and has now moved a few blocks away within the same shopping center to 3121 Palm Way, Suite 124.
