Kittle questionable, Hufanga cleared for Week 3 vs. Rams; injury report #SFvsLAR

Kittle questionable, Hufanga cleared for Week 3 vs. Rams; injury report #SFvsLAR

The San Francisco 49ers will face a banged-up Los Angeles Rams team that has a growing list of injuries of its own, particularly on offense. Running back Christian McCaffrey was placed on the injured list in Week 2, wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. was sidelined earlier in the week with a calf injury and now tight end George Kittle is questionable for Sunday. The 49ers will likely begin divisional play without three of their best offensive weapons. Kittle did not practice on both Thursday and Friday because of a hamstring injury that head coach Kyle Shanahan described as soreness that lingered between days. If Kittle does not play in Los Angeles, free agent Eric Saubert will take over his duties.

“He (Saubert) did a heck of a job. Kittle was cramping most of the game, so he had to do a lot during the Minnesota (Vikings) game,” Shanahan said. “He’s been very consistent since he’s been here. When he has to do everything, he’s up to the challenge. He’s shown he can help us in the passing and running game.”

On a positive note, safety Talanoa Hufanga is expected to complete his comeback from an ACL injury in Week 3. The fourth-year pro completed his first week of practice with full play and was not injured before the weekend. Shanahan did not specify whether Hufanga will start or not play with a snap count, but the team will “play it as it comes.”
