Sean Koerner — 4x Fantasy Pros’ Most Accurate Fantasy Football Ranking Player — breaks his Best Ball QB Tiers and Rankings 2024.
Now that the draft is complete, schedules have been released, and team rosters are mostly set, it’s time to start creating the first fantasy football rankings and position-by-position projections.
I think it’s important to start position by position and identify the value of a position before developing my overall draft strategy, so let’s take a closer look at my starting QB ranks in the context of the position. Once I’ve nailed down each position, it will be easier to work out my overall strategy for the 2024 NFL season.
If you’re new to the Best Ball format on sites like Underdog Fantasy, DraftKings, and Drafters, it’s important to know that stacking is the best way to increase your team’s overall potential and set you up for success.
The QB position is such a critical part of the stacks that I tend to let the position come to me. I either draft quarterbacks who are in a range where they offer value or I’m more likely to take a quarterback if I have a few viable stacking partners to complement him.
At the same time, we want to address QBs who have potential for a spike week, so I developed a metric to roughly measure how many Best Ball Points Added each QB delivered last season. Check this out:

Without further ado, let’s get to my first Best Ball Quarterback Tiers 2024!

Fantasy Football QB Tiers, Rankings
Level 1
- Josh Allen
- Jalen injured
- Lamar Jackson
- Patrick Mahomes
One could argue for taking Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts or Lamar Jackson off the board as the first quarterback, but Patrick Mahomes should normally be the fourth QB selected. Last season, he was QB7 in total fantasy points, but only QB13 in best-ball scoring. That’s because, aside from a Week 7 outburst, Mahomes has been more of a high-floor QB without many spike weeks. Rashee Rice’s potential suspension due to legal issues could not only hurt Mahomes’ weekly potential, but also complicate potential stacks. If you select a QB early, ideally you want him among the top three QBs. Then Mahomes.
Josh Allen might be a bit of a setback with both Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis on new teams, but he still has enough talent around him to be top-notch thanks to his tremendous running potential. He’s scored six or more rushing TDs in all six seasons and shows no signs of slowing down considering he scored 15 last year, which is a career high.
Jalen injured has the best rushing TD potential thanks to the controversial “Tush Push,” but there have been rumors that Saquon Barkley will be used as the primary ball carrier a few times in this formation. This will need to be watched closely as it significantly impacts the projected rushing TDs for both Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.
Lamar Jackson has the fewest worries of any QB in this class and could benefit from opposing defenses now having to worry about Derrick Henry in the backfield, opening up more passing and running lanes for Jackson. Considering you can argue he is the No. 1 quarterback while his ADP is closer to 3, that makes him the best target from this top QB level.
