Labor Day Travel at Shreveport Regional Airport | News

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — U.S. airlines and airports are bracing for the busiest Labor Day weekend on record as record numbers of travelers pack their bags and prepare to fly away for one last summer trip before the season ends. The TSA expects 17 million people to go through airport security, the busiest time on record for this travel period. That’s an 8.5% increase from 2023.

KTBS 3 asked Mark Crawford, Airport Business and Development Manager at Shreveport Regional Airport, what we can expect on site.

“Labor Day is usually one of the busiest weekends here at the airport, and this year should be no different. We typically have about 6,000 people come through the checkpoint Thursday through Monday. We expect that number to be more like 7,000 this weekend, knowing that many flights are booked between Thursday and Sunday and Thursday and Monday of next week. We expect Friday and Monday to be the busiest days. We’ll be back home after the LSU game and also Labor Day weekend,” Crawford said.

Crawford says there is plenty of parking at Shreveport Regional and that there is a brand new project in the works that will expand parking options even further in the future. There are also a number of new dining options for travelers looking to grab a bite to eat.
