LakewoodAlive launches the fall dates of Knowing Your Home: A Place in the Sun

LAKEWOOD, Ohio – When it comes to your home, there is no better time than now to take care of this important investment.

That’s why LakewoodAlive is here to help you every step of the way.

The nonprofit recently kicked off its fall 2024 program with a soil remediation event.

Six more Knowing Your Home workshops are planned through October. The workshop series is designed to help homeowners learn best practices for maintaining their homes, give them the confidence to tackle necessary repairs and improvements, and focus on sustainability.

The series is open to all homeowners in the Greater Cleveland area and is designed for people who want to undertake home improvement projects, hire a contractor, or simply want to better understand how their home works.

Most workshops are led by industry experts and are held in a presentation format. The workshops, which can be held on-site, focus on providing hands-on experience and giving homeowners step-by-step instructions on how to complete specific repairs.

The goal of this series is to take the guesswork out of difficult home repair and improvement projects, get the job done right the first time, and save time and money.

Donated backpacks: The Oxcart Food Pantry in North Olmsted recently distributed 100 filled backpacks to students.

Earlier this month, Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones volunteered to fill backpacks with school supplies for students in need.

“One of the wonderful things our Oxcart Food Pantry does is the annual back-to-school backpack drive,” she said. “Everything is so expensive these days, and this drive gives students in North Olmsted who can’t afford it a fully packed backpack with all the school supplies they need.

“It was a pleasure to help fill and distribute the backpacks. I believe that by giving, we receive.”

Reminder for the start of school: The first school bell of the 2024-2025 school year will soon ring, and Lakewood City Schools is helping all Rangers prepare.

Whether a student is new to the district or simply needs a refresher course on the details of starting the next school year, there is a new Back to School link.
