The excitement was palpable on Friday as tens of thousands of music fans flocked to Golden Gate Park for the first day of the festival. Outside Lands Music Festival.
“Feels good. We’re excited. We’ve got the nervous energy. We’re ready to go,” said Chinmay Surpur, a festival-goer.
A total of 225,000 fans are expected to attend the festival over the next three days, many of whom came to the popular summer music festival to see some of their favorite artists.
“Of course everyone is looking forward to seeing Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. I’ve seen the Killers about four times at the last few festivals I’ve been to, so it will be nice to see them again,” said festival-goer Vanessa Fulton.
All this hustle and bustle means a lot of hassle for people who just want to drive around the city near the park. On the first day alone, cars lined every stretch of road near the festival entrances, we even saw people selling parking in their driveways.
Zach Kerkhoff said he left Sacramento a day early to Avoid all traffic.
“I left last night, so there was practically no traffic or anything,” Kerkhoff said.
Now that they’ve made it, people like Kerkhoff say they’re just ready to enjoy Outside Lands, with many describing the festival as one of the best on the West Coast.
“I would say it’s San Francisco. The locals here get along really well. This is just another event where we’re all together. We’re going to have a great time, so let’s make sure it’s a great time for everyone too,” said festival-goer Paul Pevzner.
