The countdown is on for Launchpad, the free three-day music festival returning to Big Spring Park East in September as part of Huntsville Music Month.

The free festival begins on Friday, September 6th and runs until Sunday, September 8th. The first two nights feature local talent, the last night is Jazz in the Park – Huntsville.

“Launchpad shows how dynamic the music scene is in North Alabama,” said Matt Mandrella, Huntsville’s music commissioner. “The Tennessee Valley has a wealth of talented artists and performers throughout the region and we are excited to welcome some of them to the Launchpad stage.”

The festival’s opening night will be headlined by The Beastie Goys, a Huntsville-based Beastie Boys tribute band known for their sold-out shows at Mars Music Hall. They will also headline Friday night with R&B artist Mechi Rae and the versatile Soul Karnival.

Saturday will feature some of Alabama’s hottest groups, including headliner Carver Commodore and folk-indie duo The Burney Sisters, a touring band that recently relocated to Huntsville. The Silver Silos, another Huntsville band, will be Saturday’s opening act.

On Sunday there will be an episode of the popular “Jazz in the Park-Huntsville” series with BK Jackson as headliner and Sherry Reeves and N’General as opening acts.

Music begins at 6pm each night. Visitors can enjoy food from various trucks and bring their own alcoholic beverages in designated purple cups. Remember to pack your lawn chairs, blankets and dancing shoes.
