Leon Bridges announces new album “Leon” and releases first single “Peaceful Place”

Leon Bridges has announced that his fourth studio album, “Leon,” will be released on October 4th via Columbia Records. It is the Grammy award winner’s first new album in three years.

The announcement is accompanied by the unveiling of new single “Peaceful Place.” Shot on the outskirts of Mexico City, the video offers an intimate look into the recording process for the upcoming LP.

In a personal letter to fans, Bridges reflected on the album’s origins and meaning:

“‘Leon’ has been a long time coming. I started writing parts of it when I was doing Gold Diggers Sound. They didn’t fit with what I wanted to achieve with this album and I tried to move on. But I couldn’t get rid of them because they are a part of me. And, if I’m honest, also because I think this is my best work to date.

In many ways, I’ve been working on Leon since I was a kid. This record is about simpler days. It’s about the time I spent in my beloved Fort Worth and the experiences that made me the man I am today. It’s soulful music in the truest sense of the word – it’s steeped in my soul.

I look forward to sharing these stories about home, about nostalgia, about my upbringing, about my heritage with all of you. I hope this music brings you back to your roots and your journey.”

Recorded and produced by Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves, Maggie Rogers) at El Desierto outside Mexico City, with additional production by Daniel Tashian in Nashville, Leon features 13 tracks showcasing Bridges’ signature storytelling style and genre-bending sound, and has been described as his most personal work to date.

“Leon” follows 2021’s “Gold-Diggers Sound.” This year, he collaborated with Gunna on “Clear My Rain,” released “Chrome Cowgirl” for the Twister soundtrack, and teamed up with Kacey Musgraves on the song “Superbloom.”

The full track list for “Leon” is:

1. When a man cries
2. This is what I love
3. Laredo
4. Panther City
5. I have nothing against you
6. Simplify
7. Teddy’s Melody
8. Never satisfied
9. Peaceful place
10. You can’t have everything
11. Ivy
12. Ghetto Honeybee
13. God loves everyone
