Lincoln Park celebrates National Farmers’ Market Week

DULUTH, Minnesota – The Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market has received statewide recognition from the Minnesota Farmers’ Market Association.

The year-round market in Harrison Park was chosen as the state’s representative market for National Farmers’ Market Week. On Thursday, of course, there was plenty of fresh produce and live music. The Duluth Grill offered free tacos for everyone.

And what’s more, the Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market is about more than just cash transactions.

“When you use your EBT card, you can swipe it for $15 and actually get $40 to spend at our merchants. That really helps people stretch their grocery budget. And make some of those special meals. You can get the most amazing steak here, farm fresh eggs. That makes it a little more accessible for people,” said Kayla Pridmore, Seeds of Success program manager.

There were also 25 different stalls at the market. For one of the stalls, it was a great opportunity to make a name for themselves as a small business.

“I think the main purpose of my booth is more to get to know people in the community and build relationships with people who come back week after week,” said Barbara Miron, owner of Abundant Wellness, LLC. “When you shop local, you support small businesses. Plus, the food is the freshest because it’s your neighbor who probably picked it this morning or yesterday. And when you serve it, you support their small farm and their business.”

When the weather gets colder, the Lincoln Park Farmers’ Market takes place every Wednesday afternoon at the Harrison Community Center.
