Linkin Park announces first new album since 2017 and reunion concert at Kia Forum in Los Angeles

Los Angeles County’s Linkin Park announced their first new album in nearly a decade and a reunion world tour that will kick off at the prestigious Kia Forum during an unexpected livestream on the band’s website.

The band debuted their new single “The Emptiness Machine” and introduced their new members: co-vocalist Emily Strong from the band Dead Sara and drummer Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer.

“This is a very special day for us,” said founding member Mike Shinoda as he led the performance, mentioning that guitarist Alex Feder would be filling in for Brad Delson that evening. “Each of you is in the role of Chester Bennington this afternoon,” Shinoda addressed the crowd.

“The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents, their company and the things we created,” Shinoda said. “We feel really empowered by this new lineup and the vibrant and energetic new music we’ve made together. We’re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we’re known for while still exploring new ones.”

Shinoda, Delson and former drummer Rob Bourdon formed the band in 1996 under the name Xeno. Frontman Chester Bennington joined the group three years later.

A year later, the group sold 10 million copies of their 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory, and then another 4 million with the multiplatinum album Meteora in 2003.

The single and the upcoming album “From Zero” are the first new songs since the Bennington’s suicide in 2017.

“The album title refers to both that humble beginning and the journey we are currently taking. Sonically and emotionally, it’s about the past, present and future – it contains our signature sound, but is new and full of life,” said Shinoda. “It was made with deep appreciation for our new and long-time bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans.”

Linkin Park starts its “From Zero World Tour” on September 11th with a performance in Inglewood. A list of all concerts can be found here.
