Linkin Park announces new singer, tour and album: Listen to the new song

It’s official: Linkin Park has a new lead singer.

The popular 2000s rock band announced during a global livestream event on Thursday that Emily Armstrong of the band Dead Sara will serve as LP’s new co-vocalist for a reunion tour and upcoming album. Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain (songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock) will join Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn in the lineup.

Linkin Park have released a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” which will serve as the title track of the band’s upcoming album, From Zero, due out November 15. It will be the Grammy-winning group’s first full-length album since 2017, when original lead singer Chester Bennington died.

“Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both that humble beginning and the journey we are currently on,” Shinoda said in a statement. “Sonically and emotionally, it is about the past, present and future – it encompasses our signature sound, but is new and full of life. It was made with deep appreciation for our new and long-time bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years and look forward to the journey ahead.”

The tour includes six arena concerts, including tour dates in Los Angeles, New York, London, Hamburg, Seoul and Bogota. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am on Saturday, September 7 at Live Nation.

Linkin Park was one of the biggest acts of the 2000s with its mix of hip-hop, alternative rock and nu metal. The band fueled rumors of a reunion tour with a countdown last month, but made no announcements at the time. Speculation and fan casting for a singer to replace Bennington included Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and Amy Lee of Evanescence.

Linkin Park, known for hits such as “In the End,” “Numb,” “What I’ve Done,” “One Step Closer” and the Grammy-winning “Crawling,” released a new greatest hits collection earlier this year, featuring a previously unreleased song: “Friendly Fire.” Shinoda is also known for his work as a solo artist and with Fort Minor.
