Linkin Park reunites with new singer 7 years after Chester Bennington’s death

Linkin Park is back – with additional band members and a new album.

On Thursday, September 5, the rock band announced that they have signed Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain as drummer, seven years after bandleader Chester Bennington committed suicide.

The two additional musicians complement the line-up consisting of Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn.

According to a press release, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn began meeting quietly over the past few years. Rather than “trying to restart the band,” they wanted to work on their friendship and creative connection. After inviting various friends and creatives to work with them in the studio, they found a soul mate with Armstong and Brittain.

With the brilliant new single “The Emptiness Machine”, Linkin Park also announced new music for the first time in seven years.

“I let you cut me open just to watch me bleed / I gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be / I don’t know why I’m hoping for something I’m not going to get / I’m falling for the promise of the machine of emptiness,” Armstrong sings in the track.

The band also announced their first new album since 2017 with From zerowhich will be released on November 15th via Warner Records.

In a press release about the new album, Shinoda said: “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. The album title refers to both that humble beginning and the journey we are currently taking.”

He said that the LP was “sonically and emotionally” about “past, present and future” – it took our typical sound but was new and full of life.

Shinoda added that the band feels “really strengthened with this new line-up.”

“We’re combining the sonic touchpoints we’re known for and still exploring new ones,” he concluded.
