At press time, LinkinPark.com was showing a YouTube livestream with the same timer and an accompanying live chat full of fan speculation—much of it in anticipation of the announcement of a new singer to replace late lead singer Chester Bennington, who committed suicide in July 2017 at the age of 41.

“I hope they announce the new singer, LP deserves to carry on (her legacy),” one user wrote in the chat. Another fan asked, “If LP has a new singer and it’s a woman, who should it be?”

Linkin Park’s countdown timer is scheduled to end on Wednesday, August 28th.

Earlier this year, several sources close to Linkin Park said Billboard that the three surviving members of the band are thinking about a possible reunion tour in 2025 and considering hiring a female singer to replace Bennington. In late April, booking agency WME began fielding offers for a possible Linkin Park tour as well as headlining festival dates with Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell of LP, the sources said. The band had not specified who would sing for Bennington, but a source said Billboard that LP hoped to find a female singer to front the reunited group.

The speculation was fuelled when Jay Gordon of Orgy said he had heard rumours of a Linkin Park reunion when he was at Wired in the Empire to KCAL 96.7.

“Very, very cool guys and obviously a great band,” Gordon said. “They’ve been around for a long time and they’re still around,” he said. “It’s going to be tough without Chester, but we’ll see. I heard they’ve got a singer now. That’s what I’ve heard.”

Gordon later issued a statement saying his comments had been taken out of context. “As for this thing with the Linkin Park singer. I know nothing about that,” he wrote.

As previously reported, Shinoda was asked about a possible reunion around the release of Papercuts (Single Collection: 2000–2023).

“Rumors are always going around. People are always asking what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can give anyone is: If there’s something to tell, we’ll tell you,” Shinoda said. revolver Magazine. If there is an announcement, it will be posted on LinkinPark.com. If you hear it from someone else, you can trust that information as much as you want.”

Linkin Park is one of the most successful rock groups of the 2000s, having sold more than 29.4 million albums in the U.S., according to Luminate. The band has had 24 songs enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including three top 10 hits: “In the End” in 2003, “What I’ve Done” in 2007, and “New Divide” in 2009.
