The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off on Sunday afternoon in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. These two teams have an extremely long history. Previously, the NFC Central foes Lions and Bucs have faced each other 62 times, with Detroit leading 33-29 in the historic series. The Lions have only recently taken the lead, having won six of the last nine meetings, including two last year.

Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers are undoubtedly seeking revenge this week, especially since it was Jared Goff and the Lions who knocked Tampa out of the playoffs in January.

But Detroit has bigger things on its mind than revenge. They’re gunning for a championship run, and the Buccaneers are just the next team standing in their way. The Lions already have a solid win over the Los Angeles Rams, potentially giving them a decisive tiebreaker. A win over the Buccaneers would only add to that list.

Don’t expect the Lions to get away with this one, though. The Buccaneers have won six of their last seven regular season games since last year. They are playing good football right now and aren’t going quietly into the night.
