Live college football scores, games and updates: BC at Missouri, LSU at South Carolina and more

Week 3 doesn’t look very appealing at first glance. There’s only one matchup between the top teams on Saturday, so it’s a great weekend for zapping.

It’s also potentially a great weekend for an upset that no one is expecting. Every year there’s a week or two without many standout games. And more often than not, a week we all thought would be straightforward ends with a shocking result. Will that happen this weekend? We’ll soon find out.

Here are the games we’ll be keeping a close eye on on Saturday.

Saturday’s only game between top-ranked opponents features two teams on the rise. Boston College is riding high at the start of the Bill O’Brien era, especially after a 28-13 win over Florida State in Week 1. Missouri, on the other hand, has yet to allow a point after two shutout wins over Murray State and Buffalo.

That rivalry continues even though Oregon is now a member of the Big Ten and Oregon State and Washington State are in the Pac-12 wilderness (though they did receive some encouraging news this week). Oregon has dropped from No. 3 earlier in the season to No. 9 thanks to two close wins. The Beavers hope to defeat their hated rivals at home, especially after the Ducks dropped out of the Pac-12.

Live49 updates

  • LSU loses the ball

What a brutal timing for a fumbled snap. The Tigers were trailing in the fourth quarter and Garrett Nussmeier was clearly not prepared for that snap. The Gamecocks kicked it off with a field goal and took a 33-29 lead.

  • Intercept Mizzou

BC’s Thomas Castellanos makes another miss and Missouri’s Dreyden Norwood falls with

  • End of the 3rd quarter: Missouri 24, BC 14

The Tigers are up by two possessions as we head into the final quarter. Brady Cook has started to find Luther Burden; the receiver has over 100 yards and a TD so far.

  • Touchdown, Gamecocks!

Raheim Sanders just ran past the LSU defense for a 66-yard touchdown. Once he was out, he was gone. What a run by Sanders!

  • Touch down, LSU!

The Tigers took the lead! Garrett Nussmeier found Mason Taylor in the corner of the end zone, who easily passed and caught the ball, giving LSU the lead. The Tigers defeated the Gamecocks 29-7 after the home team took an early 17-0 lead.

  • LSU touchdown:

Caden Durham finds the end zone again for the Tigers, but he fails to convert the 2-point conversion, leaving them 24-22 behind in Columbia, South Carolina.

  • Touchdown Alabama

The Crimson Tide capitalize on another Wisconsin fumble and Jalen Milroe scores another touchdown to extend Alabama’s lead, and that pretty much wraps it up at Camp Randall.

  • LSU stopped at the goal line

The Tigers had a chance at the end zone and potentially could have tied the game, but were stopped by a disastrous fourth down and a short time at the goal line.

  • Touchdown Wisconsin

With backup quarterback Braedyn Locke at the helm, the Badgers put together a respectable 17-play, 75-yard touchdown drive that was capped off by a pass from Locke to Will Pauling.

  • FSU struggles against Memphis

Florida State’s disastrous year seems to be getting worse, but after this touchdown run by Roydell Williams, there is a glimmer of hope in the second half

  • Halftime: Missouri 17, Boston College 14

The Tigers get into position to attempt a 55-yard field goal and Blake Craig converts the ball as time expires in the first half!

  • Halftime: South Carolina 24, LSU 16

The Tigers are behind at halftime but will get the ball at the start of the second half.

  • Touchdown Alabama

Jam Miller extends the Tide’s lead with a 34-yard touchdown sprint through the Wisconsin defense. That could be the end for the Badgers, as Tyler Van Dyke is out for the game.

  • Interception leads to Mizzou TD!

BC QB Thomas Castellanos makes a missed throw and Missouri’s Tre’Vez Johnson takes advantage with a catch and a 22-yard return. The Tigers then take advantage of the loss of possession when Brady Cook hits Luther Burden, who makes a smart move and runs for a touchdown. After the good 2-point conversion, the score is tied.

  • Touch down, LSU!

The Tigers get a point back when Garrett Nussmeier finds Kyren Lacy on a short lateral route in the end zone. Nussmeier was outstanding on this drive: 4 of 4, 73 yards and a TD. A bad snap leads to a botched extra point, so the score is 24-16.

  • South Carolina 24, LSU 10

While all this was going on, LaNorris Sellers scored another game-winning score for South Carolina, sprinting through LSU’s defense for a 75-yard touchdown.

  • Put on BC!

The Eagles extended their lead with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Thomas Castellanos to Reed Harris that appeared to be a botched play. A botched snap sent the Mizzou defense into a frenzy and Harris was completely free when he caught the ball behind them. No. 6 Missouri is in trouble early!

  • Touch down, Alabama!

And just like that, the Crimson Tide scored again! They took control at their own 27-yard line with just over 30 seconds left until halftime. Two passes later, they lead 21-3.

  • Badgers miss field goal

Wisconsin had a chance to cut into Alabama’s lead just before halftime, but Nathaniel Vakos missed a 44-yard field goal attempt by a wide margin. There are just over 30 seconds left until halftime when Alabama takes the lead.

  • LSU strip sack!

The Tigers have the ball back in a great position to score again after Sage Ryan sacks South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers and takes the ball away from him.
