LNK Airport hosts a TSA PreCheck registration event

LNK Airport hosts a TSA PreCheck registration event

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – For most airline passengers, TSA checkpoints are a dreaded part of traveling, as wait times of several hours can occur during peak season.

However, many airports offer TSA PreCheck options that allow passengers to pass through checkpoints in half the time it takes for a regular screening.

From Monday, August 19th through Friday, August 23rd, residents of Lincoln or nearby can sign up for TSA Precheck at LNK Airport.

The TSA is hosting its mobile pop-up registration event for those who registered online. Patricia Mancha, media relations officer for the TSA in Nebraska, called the event a great opportunity for frequent flyers in the Good Life State.

“We have people driving several hundred miles just to get the final part of the TSA PreCheck registration,” Mancha said. “You don’t have to do that if you’re in Lincoln, Omaha or anywhere in Nebraska. Come to Lincoln Airport.”

Once travelers register on the TSA website, they are directed to a page where they can schedule an appointment at LNK. The final steps of registration must be completed at a registration center, which is usually located at major airports. Thanks to the pop-up event, locals can do this right here at home.

Registration times are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mancha explains that while PreCheck is convenient for frequent travelers, it also benefits passengers traveling during peak season when airports are at their busiest.

“You know you have to wait at the checkpoint,” she said. “At the TSA PreCheck point, you don’t have to take your shoes off, which I think is the best part – you don’t have to take off your electronic devices either.”

TSA PreCheck costs $78 and is valid for 5 years. Travelers can renew their PreCheck status online unless there have been significant changes in their lives.
