Local family ice cream parlor a nationwide success

Andia’s ice cream has taken the nation by storm.

The store was named one of the top 10 ice cream shops by USA Today and also attracted the attention of other national media outlets from PBS to CBS.

Andia Xouris, one of the founders of Andia’s Ice Cream, has been cooking since she was a child and adopted her father’s entrepreneurial spirit and values, inspiring her to start her own business. She chose ice cream after seeing how an ice cream shop in her hometown in New Jersey helped her build a sense of community.

“It was a very social environment and that’s what we liked about it,” said Xouris.

She experienced and felt similar love in the triangle.

“The Triangle has been such a welcoming and supportive home for us (and) I can’t imagine starting this business anywhere else,” she said.

Andia’s Ice Cream strives to provide exceptional, customized service and love for customers as this is a business value that Xouris learned from her father who owned a food distribution company.

“No matter if it was Christmas, he still served his customers whatever they needed,” said Xouris.

In addition to Xouris’ commitment to customer service, the shop is also committed to the quality of the ice cream, as Xouris “uses high-quality pasture-raised milk (and) premium ingredients and tries not to use artificial flavors in the ice cream.” She added that there are some exceptions like cotton candy flavor, but they use mostly natural ingredients, including real coffee for the coffee flavor and real rose petals for their rose pistachio flavor.

Speaking of the rose pistachio flavor, this is Xouris’ favorite flavor and one of the ways she incorporates her culture into the ice cream, as she loved trying this flavor as a child when she would often visit Cyrus.

Andia’s Ice Cream opened its first store in Cary 10 years ago. Over the years, the company has continued to grow and now has four stores. They recently opened a new truck in Durham.

The truck in Durham is a double-decker bus located in the “Can Opener” food truck park near the infamous Can Opener Bridge. It joins trucks from Bulkogi, Gussy’s, Queen Eggxpress, and Chick-N-Que. Andia’s Ice Cream is currently open and only offers scoops and pints at its new location, as well as the new open seating on level two of the bus.
