Lombardo writes letter to Newsom expressing concern about California bill

CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) – Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs have sent a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom expressing their concerns about a California bill they say would increase gasoline prices in the area.

The couple wrote in their letter:

“In its recent report, the California Energy Commission (CEC) specifically states that SB 950, now reintroduced as ABX2-1, ‘could artificially create bottlenecks in downstream markets,’ which would increase costs for consumers in Arizona and Nevada. This conclusion alone is deeply troubling and warrants bipartisan, regional communication on this legislation before it is pursued.”

“The people of Nevada and Arizona should not have to pay for California’s misguided policies – especially when it comes to higher gas prices,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “Lowering fuel costs is a bipartisan issue, and I’m grateful to work with Governor Hobbs to fight against policies that raise prices and cause regional economic disruption. I urge Governor Newsom and the California Legislature to reconsider this harmful legislation during their special session and include Nevada and Arizona in the policy discussions.”
