An employee who has worked at Dave’s Market for 14 years is accused of stealing at least $59,000 since January 2024 using the grocery store’s delivery business.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Grantham identified the suspect as Lowell Furlow, 49, of Valley Grande. He was arrested and charged with first-degree theft. Furlow has been released on bail since his arrest earlier this week.

Grantham said the case began after he received a call from David Oliver, the owner of Dave’s Market, telling him there was a discrepancy in the accounting records.

“Mr. Furlow has been with Dave’s Market for a long time,” Grantham said. “He had become a loyal and trusted employee at the store.”

However, Grantham said the investigation found that some of the revenue from the store’s delivery business was missing. Furlow was the person who made those deliveries.

“Orders paid by check were deposited into the cash register, but orders paid with cash were not,” Grantham said.

Grantham said it was possible that more than $59,000 was missing from the store’s books. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
