Neyland Stadium’s location in the heart of the University of Tennessee campus and close proximity to downtown Knoxville and the Tennessee River creates an unparalleled game day atmosphere.
It’s also a nuisance for drivers. Parking at a football game in Tennessee requires planning.
With game-day public parking no longer available on campus (all parking lots require permits), knowing where to drive is important this season. Even if you don’t want to drive near Neyland Stadium, you’ll still need a shuttle or rideshare, and they’re subject to certain rules.
Here are parking options in Knoxville for Vols football games, as well as tips for alternative ways to get to the game:
Parking permits for the Tennessee football team
UT has reserved all of its parking spaces for season ticket holders with parking permits and for those who work at the stadium.
Parking spaces are reallocated each year based on Tennessee Fund priority level and donor ranking, not based on available spaces.
No priority or access to prior parking assignments is guaranteed, and to receive approval you must have purchased season tickets, the Tennessee Fund said on its website.
Parking in downtown Knoxville is just a short walk away
Believe it or not, you can actually park for free downtown on game days. Head to the Langley, Market Square and State Street parking garages and get there early.

Parking at metered lots in the downtown and Fort Sanders area costs $25 on game days and must be paid by credit card.
Streets near campus: Lake Avenue, White Avenue, 13th, 16th, 18th, and 19th Streets. If you can walk a little farther, try Gay Street or World’s Fair Park Drive.

Parking shuttles for the Tennessee Football team
KAT offers shuttles on game days for just $10. Riders can pick them up in downtown Knoxville at the Civic Coliseum or Market Square/Krutch Park. Just don’t lose your wristband, because it will cost you an extra $5 to get it back!
The shuttles will operate three hours before kickoff and will depart again in the fourth quarter. They will only operate for one hour after the game.
The Farragut High School and Old Town shuttles are no longer running.
You can also take the regular KAT bus route. A $2 day pass gives you all-day access. Seniors ages 65 and older and people with disabilities with appropriate identification receive a $1 discount.

Uber and Lyft locations at Neyland Stadium
The first thing you need to know about rideshare is that there are rules for drop-off and pick-up at Tennessee football games.
Pre-game drop-off will be in front of the Claxton Education building on Volunteer Boulevard.
To pick up, the driver must come from Cumberland Avenue and pick you up on Circle Drive on The Hill. Police only allow a certain number of cars in at a time and pick up begins in the fourth quarter.
Depending on the game, wait times for rideshares can be long and frustrating.
Accessible parking for UT football
There are limited spaces available on the UT Agriculture Campus. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid handicapped parking permit or license plate is required. A free handicapped shuttle service to the Student Union begins three hours before game time and ends one hour after the game. The handicapped shuttle departs from the Business Incubator Building at 2450 EJ Chapman Drive.
How parking permits work for Vols season ticket holders
Season ticket holders wishing to qualify for on-campus parking must donate at least $100 to the Football Priority Fund or make a $100 My All donation.
Parking spaces are allocated based on the number of premium or non-premium season tickets you hold, the number of donors you have and your donor rank.
The number of tickets you receive will equal the number of parking permits you can apply for. If you would like to improve your donor ranking for next year, all philanthropic donations are tax deductible and increase your priority donor ranking.
