Lowdown Podcast No. 20 / The best motorcycle museum in the world?

Lowdown Podcast No. 20 / The best motorcycle museum in the world?

It’s surprising how many motorcycle museums are hidden in different corners of the world – sometimes you find a gem where you least expect it. But one motorcycle museum towers above them all, quite literally – the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum in Birmingham, Alabama (often just called “The Barber”) is the largest motorcycle museum in the world. This week, Robert Pandya is here to talk about the museum and the wonders of its collection.

Pandya also has time for some of his own motorcycle touring stories, as he is an avid adventure biker himself and has completed the Trans America Trail on a KTM 450. He is currently the Director of Communications at the Barber Museum.

The Barber collection currently stands at 1,600 motorcycles and continues to grow (including the world’s largest collection of Lotus sports cars). The facility is also home to Barber Motorsports Park, which hosts many AMA races as well as plenty of other motorcycle action – and is built to an aesthetic standard you won’t find anywhere else in North America. If you haven’t been there yet, Pandya could have you convinced by the end of this podcast episode.
