Panic broke out at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport after a fluorine leak was reported in the cargo area of ​​Terminal 3 on Saturday afternoon.

The fire brigade is on site together with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDR).

Where did the fluorine leak occur at Lucknow airport?

The leak came from the packaging of a medication containing fluoride. According to the fire department, efforts are currently underway to identify and get the situation under control.

What negative effects does fluoride have?

According to a safety data sheet, exposure to fluorine can cause significant health damage:

• Fluorine can cause or intensify fire; it acts as an oxidizing agent.

• Contains gas under pressure which may explode if heated.

• Fatal if inhaled, poses a serious health hazard.

How to prevent fluoride exposure

• Use protective gloves, eye or face protection and respiratory protection.

• Keep fluorine away from clothing, incompatible materials and flammable materials. Make sure that the reducing valves are free from grease and oil.

• Use fluoride only outdoors or in well-ventilated areas to prevent gas buildup.
