Anyone who bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket in Sugar Land will soon be able to enjoy the sweet life.
A gas station in a Houston suburb sold the winning ticket as the game’s jackpot rose to $800 million, worth about $404.2 million. It is the seventh-largest jackpot in the game’s history.
The ticket was sold at a Murphy USA store near Highway 90. It matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – white balls 1, 2, 16, 24 and 66, and the gold Mega Ball 6.
According to a press release, this is the 15th Mega Millions jackpot won in Texas since the state began playing the game in 2003.
In Tuesday’s drawing, there were over 2.1 million other winning tickets in all other prize categories, and four tickets containing the five white balls were worth $1 million.
The overall odds of winning a Mega Millions prize are 1 in 24; the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
