Chris “Mad Dog” Russo couldn’t wait to give his opinion on the New York Jets on Wednesday morning after the team’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.

The Jets didn’t play well.

Aaron Rodgers looked like a quarterback who had been on the mend for a year, and the 49ers looked like a team ready to get back to the Super Bowl. The collision course ended with a 32-19 victory for San Francisco in front of their home crowd.

Russo appeared on ESPN’s “First Take” and seemingly had something for everyone involved in game planning.

“I mean, this is ridiculous. Especially this performance by the defense. I’m not even going to kill Rodgers. Now he can’t move. He can’t move. He’s very nervous about that Achilles tendon. He’s going to be sitting ducks back there all year. He can’t move. He’s nervous about that Achilles tendon. He can’t do anything. (Nathaniel) Hackett is not Bill freaking Walsh. And (Robert) Saleh, one thing about Saleh, OK?

“Let me get this straight. Saleh, who has done nothing for three years, who is supposed to be this defensive guru, has three months to come up with something against (Kyle) Shanahan, and (Brock) Purdy has had all day. They ran for 147 yards and left three guys out, damn it. I mean, the Jets defense, can you try? Where’s the sense of urgency? This is the Niners on Monday night, ABC, the first game of the year; you’ve done nothing for a season and all of a sudden you lay an egg like that?

“I understand it was the first game, but that was a terrible, terrible, terrible performance. And then I’m going to listen to Rodgers tell me, ‘Once you jump off the bandwagon, you’re not coming back.’ Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, you played a game. Go back to Green Bay.

“And then I’m going to listen to Rodgers tell me, ‘If you jump off the bandwagon, you’re not coming back.’ Aaron, Aaron, Aaron, you played a game. Go back to Green Bay. And they sat there and saw nothing; you want to tell Jets fans what to do and what not to do? That’s enough. That was a disgrace.”

Awful Announcing noted that Russo has also bet a large amount on the Jets this season.
