Walmart recalls apple juice due to high arsenic content

Walmart is recalling nearly 10,000 cases of Great Value brand apple juice due to potentially harmful levels of inorganic arsenic.

The retrieve affects 9,535 cases sold in 25 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Florida-based manufacturer Refresco Beverages US Inc. initiated the voluntary recall after arsenic levels that exceeded industry standards were found in six-packs of 8-ounce juice bottles.

According to the recall notice, the product may cause temporary health problems but is unlikely to cause serious or permanent harm. Elevated arsenic levels can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, and muscle cramps. The Food and Drug Administration has not reported any adverse reactions from consumers.

Fisher-Price recalls dumbbell toys due to choking hazard

Fisher Price remembered the dumbbell toy included in the Baby Biceps Gift Set due to a choking hazard, affecting approximately 366,200 units in the United States and 37,850 in Canada.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall on August 29 after receiving seven reports of the toy’s gray end caps coming off.

Consumers should immediately stop using the dumbbell toy and keep it out of the reach of children, the recall notice states. Fisher-Price is offering a $10 refund for the toy, with no proof of purchase required. Customers must upload a photo of the product to the company website and follow the instructions for proper disposal.

M&P Food Production recalls vareniki, pierogi and blintzes due to allergens

M&P Food Production remembered several of its blintzes, pierogi and vareniki products due to undeclared allergens.

The product packaging may contain undeclared wheat, milk and/or sesame, which could pose a serious or life-threatening risk to people with allergies or sensitivities to these ingredients, the recall notice states.

No illnesses have been reported. Consumers who purchased the affected products should return them to the place of purchase for a refund. If you have any questions about the recall, customers can contact the company at 718-438-5197.

Investigation into GM Cruise concluded; car manufacturer recalls 1,200 robot taxis

Cruise LLC, General Motors’ autonomous vehicle subsidiary, announced a retrieve for nearly 1,200 self-driving vehicles due to concerns about their automated driving system.

The recall notice states that the ADS can trigger an unexpected braking maneuver if a car or cyclist suddenly approaches from behind. This abrupt braking maneuver can increase the risk of a rear-end collision.

According to the recall notice, the issue was resolved through software updates implemented in 2023 and during a temporary outage between October 2023 and May 2024. Cruise says the updates significantly reduced the likelihood of unexpected braking and improved the system’s perception, prediction and planning components.

This recall concludes the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s investigation, but the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are still investigating GM Cruise following an incident in which one of the robotaxis struck a pedestrian.

Aldi recalls Ambiano coffee machines due to risk of burns

Aldi gave a retrieve for approximately 28,000 Ambiano single-serve coffee machines due to concerns that hot water may leak from the top of the machines, creating a burn hazard.

The recall affects gray, blue, pink and purple appliances with model numbers 708924 and 708925, which can be found on the bottom of the coffee machines, the recall notice states. Aldi is asking consumers to stop using the recalled appliances immediately and to return them to any store for a full refund of the purchase price. Alternatively, customers can register their product online to receive an Aldi gift card and instructions on how to dispose of it safely.

The recall followed 25 reports that the Ambiano coffee makers were emitting hot water, resulting in three burns, the statement said. Aldi sold these products for around $50 at locations in 38 states and the District of Columbia between July and September 2023.
