Man allegedly deceived 92-year-old dementia patient into giving up his home in 2021

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A man is accused of defrauding a 92-year-old man out of his home in 2021, charging documents show.

In February, Keith Jones was charged with fraudulently obtaining execution of deeds.

He was indicted by a grand jury this week.

According to investigators, the 92-year-old victim suffers from dementia and is extremely vulnerable.

At this point, it is unclear how the victim and the suspect even knew each other. The victim’s family told investigators they had never heard of Jones before.

Jones allegedly defrauded the elderly man, lying to him about owing property taxes, claiming he would make repairs to the elderly man’s home and tricking him into putting his name on the deed to guarantee he would get paid.

Investigators say no repairs are currently underway or have been completed on the man’s home in Englewood, northeast Houston.

Court documents state that Jones is accused of deceptively tricking the victim into signing the General Warrant Declare for title to his property.

Investigators say the victim was diagnosed with dementia in early 2021 and was placed in an assisted living facility called Ashford Gardens in north Houston in July 2021.

Jones is expected to appear in court again in late August.
