A 41-year-old man was arrested on charges of exhibitionism after allegedly exposing himself to a minor, a press release said.

The incident occurred Tuesday at the Walmart at 2200 E. Ruben M. Torres Blvd., Brownsville police said in a news release.

Police responded to the Walmart around 9:10 p.m. on Tuesday after a minor told her parents that a man, identified as Silvestre Banda Casas, had followed her and exposed his genitals, the press release said.

The parents confronted Casas after the incident and prevented him from leaving the store until police arrived, the press release said.

Casas’ phone was seized as evidence after he allegedly recorded the incident, police added. He was jailed on $30,000 bail.

“We urge all parents and guardians to talk openly with their children about the importance of reporting any troubling or inappropriate behavior,” the press release said. “Encouraging children to talk about anything that makes them uncomfortable gives them the reassurance that their voice is heard and valued.”
