Man charged with murder in connection with Pasadena subway station attack: DA

PASADENA, Calif. — A man is accused of trying to murder a woman at a subway station last week by throwing her onto the tracks and then into the car pool lane of an adjacent freeway, prosecutors said Monday.

Juan Pablo Flores, 33, was charged with attempted murder and assault – an assault that involves attacking someone in a way that results in disability or disfigurement, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Flores is being held on $2 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, prosecutors said.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on August 7 at the Allen A-Line station, which is located on the median of the 210 Freeway.

The suspect approached the victim and repeatedly punched her in the face until she fell to the ground. He then grabbed her and slammed her head into the platform several times, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The man then pushed the woman onto the tracks and dragged her over a concrete divider and onto the highway that runs parallel to the station, the Times said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Flores was arrested shortly after the attack, prosecutors said.

If convicted as charged, Flores faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
