Man robs shop in Airdrie at knifepoint and demands money

A man robbed a shop in Airdrie at knifepoint and disappeared with several hundred pounds in cash.

The incident occurred at around 4.55pm on Thursday (8 August) at the store on Petersburn Road. The man entered the store with the gun and demanded cash.

He stole a three-digit amount of cash in the direction of Varnsdorfer Weg. No one was injured in the incident.

Scottish police are now asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help with the investigation.

The suspect is described as white and of medium build and was wearing a dark hooded top and dark pants.

Detective Constable David Williamson said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who has any information that could assist with our investigation.”

“We are asking the public to check private CCTV and come forward if there is anything that may help. If you were driving in the area, please check the dashcam and contact us if there is anything helpful.”
