According to police, a man is in custody for shooting his ex-wife and her boyfriend in their St. James home this morning.

According to police, they responded to a 911 call about a disturbance on Brasswood Road around midnight.

According to police, the incident was domestic in nature and the suspect and one of the victims were in the middle of a contentious divorce.

Police identified the suspect as 50-year-old Daniel Coppola.

The victims were identified as Kelly Coppola, 50, and Kenneth Pohlman, 53. Police say Kelly and Kenneth lived together in the Brasswood Road apartment.

According to police, Kelly and Daniel’s 15-year-old daughter was in the house.

According to police, Daniel asked his daughter to leave the house.

“He went to the house on Brasswood Road, picked up the girl, put her in his car, committed the murders and drove her from there to Harbor Road. While he was driving her, she was communicating with friends via text message, saying, ‘I don’t know what my dad did, I don’t know how my mom is.’ They try to reach the mother but can’t reach her so they call 911,” said Detective Lt. Kevin Beyrer.

Because of his suicidal thoughts, Daniel undergoes a psychiatric examination.
