Manatee County Schools Food Service Employees Honored

A bow to the Diamond Aprons Award winners, the good people recognized by the Manatee School District Food and Nutrition Service for their work and loving care over the past year, helping to feed thousands of our school children.

Additionally, Golden Smile Awards for outstanding customer service went to Abel Elementary, Buffalo Creek Middle, Freedom Elementary, Gullett Elementary, Haile Middle, Barbara Harvey Elementary, Lee Middle, Myakka City Elementary, Sea Breeze Elementary, Tara Elementary School, Stewart Elementary School, Sugg Middle, Willis Elementary School and Gene Witt Elementary.

· Mary Gibbons was Volunteer of the Week at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.

· Say it is not so! The only one Wayne Cortez Beck is close to the big 80! The milestone will be reached on Friday.

· There will be a celebration of life for Steve “Pigeon” Olsena popular and widely admired coach who was at Manatee High School for 30 years and recently passed away at the age of 82. The meeting will be held on September 21st at 1 p.m., call 6023 48.th Ave. E Drive, Bradenton. RSVP on Kim Ricker 904-333-3179.

The MHS Athletic Hall of Honor member coached the Hurricanes at various times from 1966 to 1995 in several sports – track, cross country, football, basketball and softball.

Olsen also won numerous awards in breeding and showing championship pigeons from coast to coast, hence the nickname.

· Linda Bartley McKinney is 39. Again.

· And Ellie Ohlman Fuesser is 32.

· A salute to a quintet who achieved career milestones at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office: Deputy Kevin Vreeland at 30 years and lieutenant Mark MorieSergeants Michelle Smith And Howard Porterand Deputy Patti Savageaueach at the age of 25.

· That’s 49 years of marital bliss for Julie And Joel Bacher.

· And 25 for Heather And Sean Felton.
