Marcell Ozuna had three hits, including a three-run homer in the first inning, to lead the Atlanta Braves to an 11-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif.

Ramon Laureano and Whit Merrifield also hit home runs, and Michael Harris II added three hits to Atlanta’s 12-hit offense.

For Braves starter Chris Sale (14-3), it was all overkill: He allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in six innings, had ten strikeouts and made 95 pitches.

The Braves took an early lead against Angels starter Griffin Canning (4-11). Harris opened the game with a double. Austin Riley singled Harris to third base and Ozuna hit an 89 mph slider over the right-center field wall on the seventh pitch of the at-bat for his 36th home run of the season.

Harris’ RBI single in the second inning made it 4-0 before the Braves broke the game open with a five-run fifth, knocking Canning out of the game.

Merrifield opened the inning with a solo home run and Harris followed with a single. One out later, Ozuna got a walk, which meant the end of the night for Canning.

Angels relief pitcher Mike Baumann came in and made the second out, but he allowed a two-run double by Travis d’Arnaud and a home run by Laureano, giving the Braves a comfortable 9-0 lead.

Sale played a masterful five innings, allowing only three singles before the Angels gave him two runs in the sixth inning.

Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel, who had two hits against Sale and three in the game, hit a single with one out and scored on a double by Kevin Pillar, who hit a throw home to third base. Pillar then scored on a wild pitch to cut the Angels’ deficit to 9-2.

Atlanta scored two more runs in the seventh, both runs coming on a throwing error by shortstop Zach Neto on a possible double-play grounder.

Schanuel opened the eighth with a double and scored on Pillar’s single.
