Mark your calendar for beer tastings, food trucks and live music

Given the high humidity on the south coast, it is still a little early to think about autumn, but it will be here sooner than we think.

And you know what that means: fall festivals.

It is the time of year when the warm and pleasant atmosphere of autumn can be felt and numerous events take place throughout the season.

Fall has no shortage of good food, community involvement and fantastic entertainment, seasoned with a dash of pumpkin spice.

From beer tastings and food trucks to delicious seafood, get ready to fill your calendars with the following upcoming local events:

Saturday, September 7th and Sunday, September 8th: A weekend of great music and fun, all in aid of A Wish Come True. Saturday will feature entertainment from The Guise, Paul Petit & The Classic Double Shot Band, Shot in the Dark and Pink Granite. Sunday will feature performances from Louie Leeman & Cheap Sneakers, All Horn’d Up and Wild Nites. Donation is $20 per day and children under 12 are free.

From 12pm to 7pm at Holy Ghost Ground, 171 Sodom Road, Westport.

Friday, September 13th: End the summer with a bang and support the SouthCoast Community Foundation. The night will be filled with delicious food, tasty cocktails and live music from GQ and the ladyThere will be appetizers, hot food, a Cuttyhunk Oysters & Clams raw bar and beverages. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Fort Taber, 1000C S Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford.

Tuesday, September 17: Celebrate the bounty of the sea with waterfront views. Local chefs will prepare dishes using fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients, dozens of which you can sample. The evening will feature a “Fluke and Flounder” auction, live music by Manny Escobar and more. Tickets are $150, include two drinks, and can be purchased at https://fishingheritagecenter.org/dinner.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cisco Brewers New Bedford, 1482 East Rodney French Blvd., New Bedford.

Saturday, September 21st: For a day of lively music, delicious food, arts and crafts and lots of fun. All ages are welcome and entry is free. Don’t miss the suckling pig dinner or performances by Jake Hunsinger & the Rockbottom Band, Nick Bosse and the Northern Roots and The Liz Spencer Band.

Saturday, September 21st: This 21+ event is your chance to have an adult night out and raise money for the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. You can sample unlimited samples from local breweries and wineries and order delicious bites from the event’s food trucks. $55 gets you admission to the zoo, a souvenir tasting glass, beer and wine tastings, and entertainment from Brian Duchaney Music and A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac. Friday, September 27: Come out for this 21-plus evening filled with great food from local businesses. You’ll be able to sample amazing bites from area restaurants and eateries, with a cash bar provided by Harper Lane Brewery. There will be raffles and specialty items from participating food vendors for sale. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at https://ticketstripe.com/Fall-in-Love-Food-Exploration-Middleborough. Don’t miss this opportunity to support the Friends of the Middleborough Public Library.

Saturday, October 5: A culinary adventure awaits as over 30 food trucks bring their specialties to pair with craft beers on tap. It’s a day filled with beers, delicious food, lawn games and music. Settle into your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an afternoon of festivities. Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Saturday, October 5: Help raise money for at-risk youth and education on the South Coast. There will be entertainment from Craig DeMelo, Autumn Drive, Off Kilter, Morrissey Boulevard and 7 Day Weekend. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Food trucks and local vendors will be on hand to purchase your delicious food and drinks.

From 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Popes Island, New Bedford.

Saturday, October 12th: It’s time again to sample chowders from local restaurants and vote for the best. Sample chowders and soups, listen to live music from Be Kind, Rewind and enjoy the community atmosphere. Advance tickets are $15, day tickets are $20, kids 6-12 are $5 and kids under 5 are free.
