MARTA and Atlanta police arrest suspect wanted in fatal shooting at Arts Center Station – On Common Ground News

ATLANTA – The MARTA Police Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) and the Atlanta Police Department (APD) Fugitive Task Force have arrested 38-year-old Xavier Mosley, who was wanted for shooting a male victim multiple times at the Arts Center MARTA Station on August 11.

Mosley was arrested on a warrant at his Atlanta home on Wednesday, August 14, where police and a SWAT team searched his home and took him to the Fulton County Jail. He was charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. Mosley was also permanently banned from MARTA.

The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, in the bus shelter at the MARTA Arts Center station, the transit agency said. Officers responded and rendered aid to the unidentified male victim, who was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. Mosley fled the scene before officers arrived.

Members of the MARTA Police CIU worked with the APD Fugitive Task Force to locate Mosley after obtaining warrants for his arrest on August 12.

“We value our partnership with the Atlanta Police Department,” said MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher. “This is a great example of local agencies working together to achieve the common goal of keeping our communities safe.”

Authorities did not give a motive for the shooting.
