Megan Thee Stallion to host MTV VMAs 2024: Highlights and best moments

Megan Thee Stallion to host MTV VMAs 2024: Highlights and best moments

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion served as the energetic and engaging host of the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night.

The 29-year-old began the evening in a one-shoulder leotard reminiscent of a leotard an Olympic gymnast might wear. Megan praised gold medalist and fellow Houston native Simone Biles, joking that Biles loaned her the outfit and she made a few alterations. “I deserve a gold medal for being a bad bitch,” Megan joked.

The VMAs spent the evening celebrating 40 years of the awards show and looking back at great moments from the past. Megan decided to pay tribute of her own by bringing a real snake in honor of Britney Spears’ iconic performance in 2001. She even wore Spears’ instantly recognizable outfit.

Megan spent just a moment with the snake before asking the show to turn off the music and get the snake. “I’m just playing. Come get that snake,” she said.

“I don’t know this snake. This snake doesn’t know me,” Megan said, screaming as the keepers took the animal off her shoulders. “I was trying to hold it for Britney,” she added.

Megan sang a medley of several songs, including “BOA,” “BAS,” and “HISS.” The rapper also performed her latest hit single “Mamushi” from her current album Megan. She also brought the song’s guest artist, Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba, on stage. Megan announced the artist mid-song, shouting, “First time all the way from Japan, Yuki!”

In one of her many costume changes of the evening, Megan took the stage in her outfit from the recent Gladiator II-inspired Pepsi commercial. In this latest installment of a colossal Gladiator-themed advertising campaign, Megan was featured alongside football stars Josh Allen, Derrick Henry and Justin Jefferson.
