Mercer named one of Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges” for the 22nd consecutive year

MACON/ATLANTA – Mercer University is once again one of the best institutions in the country for students, according to The Princeton Review®Mercer is featured in the annual Education Services Report for the 22nd time. Best Colleges Guide.

The Best 390 Colleges: 2025 Edition only about 15% of America’s four-year colleges are featured. The Princeton Review selected the colleges for the book based on data it collects from surveys of students at each college in categories such as academic offerings, amenities, campus services, and extracurricular activities. The company also uses data from surveys of 2,000 college administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings.

“The universities we feature in our book are truly a select group,” said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief of The Princeton Review and author of The best 390 colleges“The colleges that make it into our book’s rankings are listed solely based on the opinions of their customers – the students who study there – who fill out our 89-question survey about their school.”

Rather than ranking institutions on a scale of 1 to 390 in the book, the Princeton Review offers 50 separate rankings of the top 25 schools in various categories, as well as detailed profiles compiled based on surveys of students and administrators.

In the guide’s detailed ranking, Mercer finished 3rd.rd on the list of students most engaged in community service, and students reported that service-learning is integrated into the curriculum and classes “include a high level of group-based projects and assignments to encourage teamwork and leadership skills.”

Mercer also finished 17th.th on the list of friendliest students.

In this year’s profile of Mercer, Princeton Review editors and student respondents praised the university, saying:

Academics

  • Once they step on campus, “the small community coupled with outstanding professors and academic support provides students with the opportunity to gain experience through research.”
  • Scholarships are generously awarded and there are “many financial resources for studies abroad and internships.”
  • This is a school “where professors, students and administrators get to know each other well” and “a great place to get individual attention and gain experience.”
  • “The Mercer name carries weight throughout the state when it comes to job searches.”

Student body

  • The students here “want to make a difference, to do well,” and almost everyone “is involved in some form of academic activity, business activity, or community service.”
  • “The school is big enough that you don’t see the same faces every day, but small enough that you don’t feel lost in the crowd.”
  • Mercer’s student body “is like its own community” and “everyone is integrated into the Mercer community and finds ways to help and give back.”

Life on campus

  • “Almost every Mercer student is involved in at least one organization on campus,” and intramural sports, group fitness, and outdoor activities (such as rock climbing) are extremely popular.
  • Traditions are valued and there are “great homecoming activities in the fall.”
