Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill was charged with reckless driving after he was stopped, detained and handcuffed by police on Sunday as he approached Hard Rock Stadium for his team’s game against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars.

He has been released from custody and is scheduled to participate in the game, which begins at 10:00 a.m. (Arizona time).

Hill was pulled over for speeding and then got into a verbal altercation with the officer. According to ESPN, Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was in Hill’s car with him at the time of the incident.

“This morning, Tyreek Hill was stopped for a traffic accident approximately one block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police,” the Dolphins said in a statement. “He has since been released. Several teammates witnessed the incident and stopped to assist him. Tyreek and all other players involved arrived safely at the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”

Hill, 30, has been selected to the All-Pro first team five times and to the Pro Bowl eight times. Last season, he led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards and was tied for the league lead with 13 touchdown receptions and 119 catches. He won a Super Bowl as a member of the Chiefs in 2020.
