A Gallatin woman has been charged with aggravated arson and vandalism after investigators concluded that an explosion at her home in June that left a woman seriously injured and hospitalized for more than a week was intentional.

During the investigation, agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation concluded that 48-year-old Jessica Renee Stadelbauer was responsible for the explosion in the duplex where she lived, a press release said.

TBI special agents and Gallatin police responded to the explosion near Airport Road at 314 Chaffin Court on June 14, TBI officials said.

Several other agencies also assisted, including the Sumner County Emergency Management Agency, Sumner County EMS, Gallatin Fire/Fire Department, Gallatin City Public Utilities, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The woman who was hospitalized was in the house at the time of the explosion. Her identity has not been released publicly.

The Sumner County grand jury indicted Stadelbauer on July 8, charging him with aggravated arson, vandalism over $250,000 and child abuse, neglect or endangerment, a press release said.

It is not known whether a child was injured in the explosion, a TBI spokesman noted of the child abuse, neglect or endangerment charge.

“These charges were unrelated. The child abuse allegation was in the same indictment but was not part of the TBI investigation,” TBI officials said.

Stadelbauer was taken into custody and booked into the Sumner County Jail on July 24 on $100,000 bail.

She is scheduled to appear in Sumner County District Court on October 31, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
