Midtown Noodles Bar opens second location on Mahan Drive

Midtown Noodles Bar, a locally owned pan-Asian restaurant, is set to open a second location on Mahan Drive.

A Midtown Noodles Bar employee confirmed in a phone call with the Tallahassee Democrat on Friday that the second location will be in the former Venezuelan restaurant Chatarras, which closed in June after a series of restaurant closures. An opening date has not yet been announced.

The noodle bar’s first location on North Monroe Street in Lake Ella Plaza opened in August 2020 following the global shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant opened amid the closure of several local businesses this year.

Despite the challenges faced by neighboring businesses, the restaurant has built a large following among people who have enjoyed the variety of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Thai dishes offered there.

As previously reported in the Tallahassee Democrat, the founders of Midtown Noodles Bar are also known for their other local dining establishments: Sakura Sushi and Grill on North Monroe Street and J’s Asian Street Food on Tennessee Street.

In addition to its ramen noodle combinations, the restaurant is known for its Vietnamese pho soup, which consists of a broth with thin rice noodles, garnished with onions, cilantro and spring onions.

The extensive menu also includes pad thai (fried rice noodles with bean sprouts and onions), dumplings, grilled bulgogi beef and rice, boba tea, other rice and noodle dishes and more.
