Millville Center changes store offering, Jersey Mike’s is coming

MILLVILLE — A Jersey Mike’s Subs franchise will begin operations this fall with a store opening at the Union Lake Crossing Shopping Center

And the sandwich shop is just one of six new tenants slated to open at Millville Center in the coming months, according to Union Lake’s owner.

The new additions include a restaurant, a doctor’s office, a catering business and clothing stores.

Matt Catania and John Helm, owners of the planned Jersey Mike’s, hope to open in the first quarter of 2025.

“There’s actually no Jersey Mike’s in this area,” said Catania, who owns several franchisees for the chain.

“And many of our current customers have asked us to bring our authentic, fresh-sliced and grilled subs further south.”

Catania and Helm expect to begin preparations in the fall when they take over a space that currently houses a AAA branch in South Jersey.

But AAA South Jersey isn’t leaving; it has even signed a new contract. The club is just a short distance from the site of a former pretzel factory, which the automobile and travel services club hopes to have up and running in the fall.

The Irgang Group, which owns the mall, also said Bath & Body Works will move from an undisclosed nearby mall in the fall. The company is taking over a 4,400-square-foot space that formerly housed The Children’s Place.

Also in the center:

  • Inspira Health will open a medical office in a former Pier 1 store on September 10. It will offer primary care and specialty care services.
  • Later this month, sporting goods outlet Rally House is scheduled to open in a 7,500-square-foot store that formerly housed Marburn Curtains.
  • Old Navy plans to open in a 15,000-square-foot space carved out of the former Dick’s store.
  • In addition, Poke Bros. plans to begin construction on a 1000-square-foot restaurant that will offer Hawaiian food bowls.

Mark Irgang, CEO of the Irgang Group, noted that discussions are currently underway with a potential tenant for the center’s remaining 23,000 square feet of inline space between Cato Fashions and Five Below.

“The upcoming openings will certainly continue the strong increase in customer frequency among our tenants,” said Irgang.

According to Pacer.ai, annual shopping visits to Union Lake have increased to over 5.1 million, a 21 percent increase from 2021.

The center still has an undeveloped lot that is suitable for drive-in restaurants or other freestanding uses.
