Minnesota dogs place at AKC National Championships – Hometown Focus

The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a nonprofit organization, the world’s largest registry of purebred dogs, and the leading canine advocacy organization, is pleased to announce that last month’s AKC National Obedience Championship and AKC Rally® National Championship crowned the nation’s best dogs from a total of more than 900 entries. The competitions were held July 18-21 at the Roberts Center in Wilmington, OH.

“It was exciting to see the outstanding performances as the new national champions in obedience and rally were crowned,” said Doug Ljungren, AKC assistant executive director of sports and events.

“The dogs and handlers participating in these events represent the best in their sports across the country. We are excited to celebrate their dedication and talent.”

“All of us at the American Kennel Club would like to thank our exhibitors, volunteers, judges and supporting clubs for helping us host these spectacular competitions. We appreciate the camaraderie we experience at these competitions,” said Diane Schultz, AKC Director of Obedience, Rally and Tracking.

AKC NATIONAL OBEDIENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS:

The 2024 AKC National Obedience Champion is: High Times Shake ‘N Bake, a Golden Retriever known as “Baker,” handled by Kori Bevis of Cannon Falls, MN.

First Runner-Up: Aratone’s Royal Keepsake, a Shetland Sheepdog named “Kylee,” handled by Vicky Gillow of Mebane, NC.

Second Runner-up: Blue Skies at Dejavu, an Australian Shepherd named “Willie”, handled by Kathleen

Keller from Flemington, NJ.

Third Runner-Up: My Dawg Miss, a Labrador Retriever known as “M,” owned by Connie Cleveland Nolan of Berryville, VA.

WINNER OF THE AKC RALLY® NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP:

The 2024 AKC Rally National Champion is: Bolser Zuko You’re the One, a Border Collie known as “Zuko,” handled by Kim Berkley of Caseyville, IL.

Rally Champion: Blazing Little Red Corvette, an Australian Shepherd known as “Ellie,” driven by Mary Todd of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Truly outstanding: My Sweet Dixieland Delight, a Golden Retriever known as “Dixie,” owned by Charlotte Bird of Sellersburgh, IN.

Rally Advanced: Sheaman’s Pie in The Sky, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier known as “Rhu,” handled by Jen Humphrey of Princeton, MA.

Rally Intermediate: Golden Gate Simply Decker Waterbound, a Dutch Kooikerhondje known as “Decker,” handled by Carol Malec of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Rally rookie: Caliche Rebel With a Smile, an Australian Cattle Dog known as “Rebel,” handled by Nancy Kruse of Burnsville, MN.
