Missing goat found and returned home, says goat sanctuary

Local news

Caleb the goat ran away on Sunday after getting “scared,” but was brought home and reunited with his brother Joey.

The goat Caleb has been found, Sowa Goat Sanctuary announced in an Instagram reel on Wednesday.

He returned to his home at the animal shelter in Harvard, Massachusetts, after “two extremely heartbreaking and horrific days,” Sowa said in Reel’s caption.

Caleb went missing on Sunday after he was frightened as he and his brother Joey were moving into their “new life” in Sowa, the shelter said.

But just two days later, a man named Derek Sowa told him he saw Caleb near his home, the video caption says. Sowa volunteers rushed to Derek’s property nearby, where video shows Caleb hiding between Derek’s tractor and a shelter.

The video shows volunteers strapping Caleb into a harness, leading him to one of their transport trucks and bringing him safely to Sowa. Brothers Joey and Caleb are reunited at the shelter, and the video shows the two brothers snuggling up to each other as they are reunited.

Caleb is “shaken but physically unharmed” as he adjusts to life in Sowa, the video’s caption says.

“We see both the worst and the best of humanity in the world of protected areas, and during this crisis we have truly seen the best emerge,” Reel’s caption read.
