CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Chattanooga women’s soccer team lost 4-0 to Alabama in the Mocs’ home opener at Finley Stadium on Sunday night. UTC falls to 0-3-1 overall and the Tide improves to 3-1 on the year.

“The girls showed toughness tonight and fought hard,” said Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. “We were punished for our mistakes, but there are also positives to take from it. We continue with our difficult schedule – we will continue to work to improve and the results will follow.”

Chattanooga fired eight shots, two of which were on goal. Caroline Richvalsky challenged the Tide defense and fired a shot that hit the crossbar and almost went in. However, the shot bounced off and Sophia Mizes The following header was blocked.

Alabama scored its first goal in the first minute on a Gianna Paul foot in the box. The Tide scored a second goal just before halftime and went into the break with a 2-0 lead.
