Montgomery Public Schools reminds football fans of spectator rules

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – Not only are the football teams preparing for the season, but so are the officials at Montgomery Public Schools.

MPS athletic director Gregory Ruffin reminds fans of the rules in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

The same rules that were introduced two seasons ago continue to apply to spectators.

Back to 2022Superintendent Dr. Melvin Brown announced new expectations for fans after numerous fights broke out during a game.

“We want to make sure that this doesn’t happen. I think that’s a given these days,” Ruffin said.

Persons under 18 years of age are not permitted to enter without adult supervision. If you accompany a child, you can only be responsible for three children.

“We want to keep the atmosphere calm so that this policy doesn’t change,” Ruffin said.

If you bring a bag, this must be clear.

“It speeds up the check-in process because you don’t have to open your luggage, search it and do things like that,” Ruffin said.

There are also restrictions on what you can and cannot bring.

“We’re looking for the usual things. We want to make sure no one is bringing knives, guns, weapons and of course food. We have concessions at the games,” Ruffin said.

MPS also has a similar Clear bag policy during the school day.
