More flights will soon be starting from Albany International Airport to the Sunshine State. This is not a new airline, but an existing one that is based at Albany International Airport.
JetBlue is also offering daily flights from Albany International Airport to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando this winter.
ALB reports that there are currently about thirty flights per week to Florida, but by December that number will increase to nearly fifty flights per week, serving seven different airports in Florida, thanks to new flights from JetBlue.
JetBlue is expanding rapidly in the Northeast, adding more flights to Florida from places like Buffalo and Syracuse, opening new routes from Boston’s Logan Airport and offering flights from Manchester, New Hampshire, for the first time, according to the Albany Business Review.
In total, JetBlue plans to fly approximately two hundred and twenty-five flights to Florida daily this winter.
This is just part of a busy year for Albany Airport. The terminal is being expanded and two new gates are being built, something not seen since the 1990s. A new airline, Avelo, began direct flights to Raleigh-Durham in May and will begin flights to Charlotte in November. Additionally, Southwest will begin offering direct flights from Albany to Las Vegas in August.
If you’re flying to Florida, expect delays – these flights often have the biggest delays departing and arriving at Albany International Airport, so plan to get there at least two hours in advance.
